Is QT Player 7.7.8 included in this alert? Apple seems to update iTunes an Quicktime on Windows fairly regularly .. Quicktime seems to be a component of iTunes media playback..

As for QT not being needed on Windows ... iPhones create videos in Quicktime format. How is one supposed to play those videos on Windows machines? Especially in iTunes?

Where is Apple's statement about not supporting Quicktime on such a major platform? Seems to be a big deal ...

OK. Here is what I found:

Uninstalled Quicktime for windows 7.7.8
iTunes still imports and plays .MOV files.
Windows Media Player and VLC Media Player plays .MOV files.

Does this mean that these applications are using Apples QT DLLs anyway? I hope the problem is removed when one uninstalles Quicktime app in Windows ....
