Why have the movies on iTunes stopped playing?

my movie on iTunes is not working.

I bought a movie on iTunes, let it download fully and when go to play the movie its just a black screen i have tried everything. help please.

If you are running 10.10.5, then the security update that Apple pushed out the other day is what is causing the problem. I ended up with the same problem. All purchased movie content went black screen and no audio. All purchased music was fine. But I have found a temporary solution till Apple gets this fixed.

Here was my solution to get it working again:


Running the 10.10.5 Yosemite full OS X installer fixed iTunes 12.3.1.23 paid video content now plays without issue, this is the simplest way I have found to fix this issue.

n.b. You will need to update Safari back to 9.0.2 after applying the Yosemite installer.
