How to add music from my iMac harddrive directly to my iPhone?

This might sound like a rookie question to most of you, but I can't find out how to do this... where on my previous Windows system I never had any issues through iTunes.

- I'd like to use iTunes on my iMac to directly put my harddrive music on my iPhone.
