Manual managing music on iPhone

I. Thinking about switching from auto sync to manual sync. What are the pros and cons of manually managing music on your iphone? I have a 64 gig iphone 5 and use auto sync, but some of the playlist I create in itunes I don't necessarily need on my iphone. And sometimes I need to increase the loudness settings on some songs for listening to music n my iphone but not on my desktop itunes.
