iPad & iPhone on same itunes account

Hi, a newbie here so very sorry to come straight in with a question,

I have an iphone 4s and tomorrow will be getting an ipad2, which I want to sync to the same itunes account but does this mean that whatever is on my iphone will go on my ipad and vice versa, as there is stuff on my phone that I wont want on my ipad, is it possible to have the two devices on one account but with different sync settings.

Having them both on the same account just means that you can have the same apps on both (without paying twice). But you don't have to.

Thanks Alli, but does that mean once I sync the new ipad onto my account I get a choice what I want to sync to the ipad and a choice what I want to sync to the iphone.

When you set it up, go into iTunes and manually select the apps you want on the iPad.
