how to do I get music from iTunes to iPhone

I know this is a dumb question but I can't new music from iTunes onto my phone. The phone is plugged into my laptop and iTunes is open. I just purchased new music and want to add it to my existing music on my phone but if I drag the check marked song over nothing happens and if I uncheck it it has the circle with the line thru it when I drag..if I click on music under my phone it shows the music in a grayed out window........how do I get my new music onto the phone?

You dont drag your music over. You hit "sync" on itunes

On the left hand side of the screen your phone will be there click your phone. Then options will come up for your phone on the top of the screen select music. Check the sync music button and it should go onto your phone.

Did you set the phone up on another computer or did you install music from another computer before trying to take music from this laptop?
