Other in iTunes?

My 4S is showing it has over 2gb of "other" when plugged into itunes. What is taking up that space??

any way to get rid of it? I went for a 16GB instead of a 32GB this time around and im almost at 1gb left :/

for mine, clearing my safari history, cache, and cookies got rid of over 1GB of that "other". i still have about 0.52GB left and have no idea what it is...

I believe it is pic thumbnails and things like that also. I noticed too if an app fails to install while doing a cloud restore or whatever, the "other" section grows. I believe it's the OS as well as cache and thumbs.
