Downloaded program updates don't go away

I have an app update of Kindle that even though iTunes shows it downloading in the free update process, it does not leave the list even after syncing with the iPhone 4.

Anyone else seeing this? Not all apps did this just the Kindle update remains in the free update list, no matter how many times I download it.
