For some reason iTunes on my computer (Windows XP) will not recognize my iPhone 3GS.

The computer makes an audible ding noise to notify that something has been connected to the USB... but then nothing happens. The computer even makes the noise when you unplug the phone.

The phone battery also does not charge when connected.

The same computer and iTunes recognizes other iPhones (3G and 2G).

My laptop and work computers with the same setup recognize my phone.

I tried the following to try to alleviate the issue:
1. Restarted iPhone
2. Restarted computer
3. Switched USB ports
4. Switched USB cables
5. Reinstalled ALL Apple programs that could cause conflicts
6. Used MSCONFIG to see if I had a hardware conflict

Basically used this tutorial:
support.apple.com/kb/TS1495

Plus another tutorial about using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot hardware conflicts.

Anyway... here's the particulars:
Model: (MB717LL) 3GS Black
Version: 3.1.2 (7D11)
Carrier 5.0
Modem Firmware: 05.11.07

Jaibreak: BlackRa1n
Unlock: BlackSn0w

iTunes version: 9.0.2.25

ANYONE? have any help it would be much appreciated...
Thanks in advance-

it won't charge if the driver doesn't load. this means a corrupted driver or bad device (the phone)

your phone is probably bad or has corrupted software

it's also possibly your jailbreak broke the phone. have you tried with it NOT jailbroken?

How can he do that if he can't connect? Maybe boot it in safe mode and try to connect it... I don't know how to force safe mode... Sbsettings has that maybe

Does the iPhone change when plugged into the wall? If so your dock is probably fine. Try a friends computer just to see if it works.

What OS is your computer running?
