Downloading apps on ITunes

Hi,
I have recently bought the IPhone and last night I downloaded some Apps from the ITunes store on my laptop, mucis, games etc but they do not seem to have gone onto my phone.
Does anybody know how I do this? Prob really simple but I am struggling like mad.

Just plug your phone in and let Itunes Sync them to it

Yeah and don't forget to check the "Sync Application" option in iTunes (in the Application tab)
