i have an i-pod nano that i can't get it to sync ,have downloaded the latest updated version

after downloaded the latest version a message came through stating that the i-pod was detected and to delete i-tunes and reinstall i-tunes but that didn't work

You're going to need to provide a bit more information than that.

1. What "latest version" are you referring to?
2. Where did you see the 'message"? On a computer or on the iPod Nano?
3. I'm going to assume you deleted and re-installed iTunes on your computer.
4. What kind of computer do you have?
