Error syncing photos from my Apple Mac to my ipod 5th generation

I have my photos on iPhoto and i usually sync them through itunes and it works perfectly fine, but today i tried to do just that and a message came up saying "the ipod can not be synced because the sync session failed to start" any ideas why this happened and how i can fix it ? I really need help. Thankyou
