iPod Touch 2nd Gen Touchscreen not working?

The digitizer on an old iPod Touch 2nd Gen (A1288) stopped working, so I figured a replacement would fix it; I was wrong. Any ideas as to what might be wrong? The iPod seems to work fine otherwise, boots fine, buttons work, just no touch.

I'd refer it to qualified service personnel.

While I may not be Apple qualified, I do run my own electronics repair shop. Was just coming here for advice.
