Water On my ipod touch!

There is water that has fallen on my ipod touch but it has fallen on the top of the screen so the water proof system is still white. Problem is that some buttons doesn't work well and I wonder if apple customer guarantee may be still applied since the bar is still white...

I've heard in these cases putting it in a bag with rice may help dry it out, not instant rice but the old school stuff good luck.
