iPod touch reboot went badly!

I am running a second generation iPod touch on 3.1.3 jailbroken with Spirit.

My volume up and down buttons weren't working well, so in SBsettings I tried a reboot. Now I am stuck at a black screen with a spinning gear in the center. The startup logo hasn't showed up.

I plugged it into a power source, but nothing happened. iTunes briefly recognized the iPod, but gave an error 0xe800065. Now iTunes doesn't show it at all. Please help me out! thanks in advance!

have you tried rebooting it in DFU mode?

It seems to be shutting down. I tried holding both buttons down for a good 20 seconds, but nothing happens and the gear keeps spinning.

Holding down Home+Power doesn't even do the hard shut down after 10 seconds?

Nope. I'm thinking about just letting the battery run out to turn it off!

is it plugged into iTunes when u hold the power+Home button down??

It wasn't. Last night I just let the gear run, and it ran out of battery. It works now. Thanks for all the help!

well duhh.. it must be plugged in for DFU Mode to work
