Anyone else disappointed that Apple decided to ignore the current 4" lineup?

Coming from a Droid X (4.3") to the iPhone 5, i find the 4" screen to be "just right." I could be wrong, but I would venture to say that some even prefer the 4S to the 5/5S/5C.

It's possible that the 4.7" display on the iPhone 6 will be comfortable but what if it isn't. Is Apple going to just completely phase out the 4" display and make 4.7" the standard?

Any chance Apple refreshes the 4" line down the road or are they going the way of the 1st Gen (iPhone, 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S) and scrapping the 4" segment?

I know a lot of this is speculative...just thought It would be a fun/interesting topic.

Perhaps they will refresh the 4 inch iPhone next year, but definitely not this year.
Your only options at this point are the 5c/5s or the 6.

Yeah, I was thinking they may opt to refresh the 5C/5S next year.

I personally think it would be a great move to have three higher-spec, similarly designed phones to choose from. (A 4" in the 6/6 Plus Casing with updated internals).

Now that I think about it, they've set themselves up perfectly to unveil the iPhone 6 mini next year lol

The 5s is still a very good phone and will be supported for a long time. I was not disappointed that 4 inch phones were not refreshed because the 5s is such a high quality option at a great price. That said, I would like to see Apple continue developing 4 inch phones. Maybe next year they can bump up the specs and add NFC for Apple pay to a 4 inch phone.

I agree that the 5S is a great phone. I have the 5 and I don't think it gets much better than the 5S. I think Apple really nailed the design aesthetics on the 6 and 6 Plus. It just would have been nice to see that design applied to a 4" model. Sadly, I think that the 4" screen size will be phased out.

I just struggle with the phablet concept. Maybe I'll end up with a 5.5" phone one day and understand it.

I just think back to when Apple released the 5 and presented the increase in screen size as a logical step. And that a ton of effort had been put into ensuring that it remained comfortable to use, etc. With the 6/6+, I just get the sense that this was a move to "keep up."

I think I'll have a better idea of how I feel come Friday, when I can actually get my hands on the new phones. There is the chance that the 6 will feel great in-hand.

To me, based upon the pictures I've seen, the 6+ looks as absurd as all of the other Android phablets I've seen. Don't get me wrong, it will be a beautiful device; however, ultimately, you have to carry the thing around, talk on it, etc.

We shall see...

The 5S is a great device. Personally, I prefer the 4" screen size. The current trend is now bigger phones, so Apple is just taking advantage of that. Different strokes for different folks.

I used to feel the same way. But the more I thought about how I use the phone, the more I realized I rarely hold it up to my head for actually using it as a phone. I either have a headset on, or I'm sitting somewhere while texting/emailing. Combine that altered usage with growing old eyesight, and I thought I'd give the plus a try. Time will tell if I love the plus or run screaming back to the 6 (which doesn't feel much larger in hand compared to the 5/5s, if my cardboard mockups are any indication).

I'm still on the fence. I'm more disappointed that the bezels are so large. I ordered both models, so I guess I'll see Friday but I'm pretty sure I'll be a tad irritated that the 6 Plus is so tall. I mean the device is much taller than the Note 3 which is ridiculously huge but the screen is smaller...SMH

I had the Note 3 and it was almost too big, so when I saw the paper cut out of the 6 plus, there was no way I was going to get it. I ordered the 6, I keep hearing about its "abysmal battery life", I guess we'll see. I hope it will be ok, I don't think I could manage a phone the size of ironing board.

I think the 6 has a chance at being "just right."

Anything larger, I don't see as being practical.

I have an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. I think the three are great together. When you start to blur the lines between iPhone and iPad, I start to get leery.

I actually saw a write up the other day on this exact topic.

To paraphrase, the article said something to the effect of: you might consider the large screen if you're a media junkie but if you use your phone for a means of communication, a smaller device is likely your best bet.

I couldn't agree more. If you watch YouTube all the time or use your phone for remote access. Maybe you could really stand to have some extra real estate on the mobile experience but for the average user, I still am a believer in the smaller form factor.

I really hope I can grow to like the 6 and eventually get one because on paper, it sounds great.

I do social media but the 6 plus is just too big. Like you, I have a MacBook, iPad and iTouch, right now my phone is a Blackberry, which is a good phone but it just comes up short.

One of the things I wish we had with the iPhone is the ability to replace batteries. I know it can be done but it requires specialised tools and figuratively breaking into the device....I'm not keen on that. However, if you've got concerns about battery life, you might want to consider a mophie pack. I have never found the need for it but if you feel you might, it's a consideration. It will add about a half inch to the bottom of the device, but it comes in great colours....
Just a thought....
Or there are these....http://www.mophie.com/shop/iphone-6

I had a Mophie case for my iPhone 5 and while it was heavy and bulky, I really liked it anyway, especially on multi day backpack trips. But a Mophie case for an iPhone 6? I'd have to try it, it would probably feel humongus.

Did you see those external brick looking thingies???? I wouldn't mind those...they don't add bulk and for trekking through the back country (as I do sometimes) it's useful to throw in the backpack.
