Trying to set up facetime on my ipad

I am trying to setup facetime on my ipad and when I try to sign in with my apple id and password I keep getting a message saying to check my network connection and I am connected to my network.

Have you verified by opening an app or safari to be sure you are getting a good connection? If you are, try restarting your iPad and see if that helps.
