Hide texts

I am looking for a way to help hide messages from my ex husband
By either
1) no texts. Calls only
2) locking/hiding individual messages

I am wanting to hide them so my 9 year old won't see them when Playing on my phone Passcode on phone itself won't work as she does use my phone -- i.e. In car at restaurant etc

I can not block completely as still must be able to call or communicate

I have asked to email only as its no on my phone - but of course must be difficult -he's an ex for a reason - and said he doesn't check that enough for a good form of communication.

You can erase individual messages.
