Screen Capture / Screen Recording apps for iOS

Maybe it's me, but is there really a need to use a screen capture / screen recording app when we can simply press both the power button & home button simultaneously for a moment to get the same results. Are there any advantages to using screen capture / screen recording apps over the traditional method? For those of you who use the aforementioned apps, please chime in and share your experience....
