I've settled on CCal Pro 11. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ccal-11-pro/id651313515?mt=8

It has THE best views of any calendar app that I have, bar none. The weekly view doesn't just give you worthless dots and dashes, it actually tells you what it is. If you press another day, the schedule comes up, like in the pictures here.

Can you post some more screenshots? Specifically of a full month view and and day view?

Yeah, here's four more views, ranging in variety of monthly and agenda views.

And can someone explain the hoopla over Fantastical? I have it on both the iPhone and OS X. I love it on the Macbook Pro, but it's not that great on the iPhone. People just go nuts over this app and it doesn't do much more than the native calendar app.

I think they were the first to offer natural language input. When you are in a rush and need to add an event quick it's great.

I use week cal. It's brilliant. You double click on the day and it opens that day. Double click again and it goes back to week view. Month view is great too.

Anyone tried 'Calendars by Readdle' ?

I'm using calendars 5 by Readdle. In general I like it, it's got the features I want: good week view, monthly view with event titles, and natural language input.

Some nice features: easy date/time picker reminiscent of PalmOS instead of the terribly inefficient rolling picker that is the ios default. Tasks are also integrated into the calendar so you can see them in your views.

The one major shortcoming right now is the inability to accept/decline meeting invitations from exchange calendars. Apparently they plan to add this feature in an upcoming release. It's a hassle though if you get a lot of work meeting invitations. You have to process them in the stock calendar.

I've learned not to trust reviews. Stupid dumbasses leave one star reviews on good apps because it either won't work on an iPhone 3GS or they hate the icon.
Agree. But I do read the 1-star reviews to see if there's something legit going on.

Fake reviewers. My main thing I look for is if it's iOS 7 ready and how new the latest update is.
If an app is free: No problem. If it costs $5, I try reading between the lines (along with opinions here and elsewhere). "Fake" reviews can also be the 5-star ones.
