Barcode App for custom asset tags

I recently purchased a labeler that will print barcodes. I got this wonderful idea to use it to create asset tags for a household inventory. Does anyone know of a home inventory app that will allow you to assign a barcode number to an item or a scanner app that will scan a batch of codes and allow me to email the list to myself. With the latter I can simply import them into a spreadsheet or Access database and do whatever I want with them. The problem I'm running into is that every scanner app wants to look up a product and compare prices. I just want to scan a bunch of codes and get a list of the numbers without any interpretation by the app.

Sounds like something you'd need a custom app for.

If I could just find one of the scanner apps that will log a list of scanned codes without trying to look them up that would be fine.
