Yes it should. That's when it started the voice speaking for me.

Yes. Voice guided directions are immediately heard.

Street view, traffic, and all of the POS are definitely a plus on Google maps but I prefer the Apple maps graphics and lock screen navigation. Hell, the few times Ive used Apple maps it has worked perfectly. I will definitely use Google maps as a backup if needed.

I like that Siri tries to pronounce street names. She's pretty good with it although there are definitely street names with non standard pronunciation that she gets wrong. But then again if you weren't a local you'd get it wrong too.

Using the Aussie Karen voice on my Garmin Nuvi, I've encountered several humorous errors in pronunciations and interpretations in text to speech - one for a road called "George M. Mills Civic Parkway" came out "Goerge the 1000th Mills"...

When i chekced out the app this morning on the "test directions" i put in, once the navigation screen came up i tapped on "start" in the lower right hand corner and the woman started to speak the direction i need to go in. Now, just seeing your post, i just put in another addy and again, after tapping "start" it started to speak my direction to go in.

I dwld'd the app and didn't change any settings.

Yes I did exactly the same thing including going home tonight from work and it gave me spoken navigation right to my front door and it matched perfectly with my built in Nav. system I have in my Honda Accord.

Not that I'm currently aware of unless the option is available once you sign in to your Google account in which I haven't tried that yet.

You have to sign in to put in your work or home address and to use other features.

the issue is there is no SPEAKING of street names... just "turn left, turn right"

you have used the native app (turn by turn) right?

Thus far, I've found that the voice guided directions were on par with my other navigation apps.

With my other 2 also on the phone including the definitive built in Nav. unit I have in my car as I previously mentioned. It was spot on coming home from work tonight right to my front door. Sorry to have repeated this.

odd. i had it take me to work this morning and it just said "left or right", NO street names, and would say it almost too often

i will try it again on the way home and if the problem persists then i will show up at both of your homes for a free dinner?!

Make it my house then also Blink. You now my friend of all people might want to reinstall it and see if it works then...lol

When you have a route started, in the bar at the bottom, hit the '3 stacked dots' on the right end of the bar, and see if the voice guidance is muted or not... select "unmute..." if you see that as a choice when you hit the dots.

I don't remember seeing that option but will have to go back and look again...hmmmm

First Oh Great Another Map War and with the one app everyone wanted until Apple "Fixed" theirs...geez and also I see no mute option in the settings and like Blink finally said street names are spoken as he found out....Better late then never right my friends?

'D I got your attention. Went to watch a game on one of my upper channels and it turned out there was no game after all. I suppose I just have to stay here and keep posting to stay ahead of you geniuses.

Oh okay. I know that there are a couple of high school football championship games on tomorrow afternoon and a couple of college games tomorrow night..One being Georgia Southern vs North Dakota State on ESPN2 at 8 P.M.. The first of the bowl games start Saturday.

I overall like it a lot, not bad at all for their first release, a few points :

There is no way to save locations or bookmarks unless you sign in with your google account.
No way to edit saved locations or change their names, this could be a problem if you have a lot of places saved since all you see is addresses ( unless you save a place google recognizes, like a restaurant or mall, etc ).
There should be a way to lock the map in the " north up " position, it's really sensitive when zooming in and i keep rotating it.
No access to " recents" places or routes, if you looked for something an hour ago it will be gone when you move on, unless you save it.
