Can't open apps

I have finally managed to transfer my data etc to my upgraded iphone 4S from the iphone 4. Some of my apps just won't open. I click on them and they start to open then it goes straight back to the homepage. I have tried downloaded another free app as was told that this may help, but nothing ... please can anyone help?

Try deleting the app and reinstalling.
