This will be my first Ipad so I have a lot of questions but this is the most important at this point LOL,

I have a Sony S tab and I use my google voice number just for free texting, will I be able to use it for the Ipad 3 or am I going to have to do something different and get a new texting number and everything, or is there texting on the tablet already unlike the Sony S

There are several Google Voice apps. You'll just need to find the one that will do what you need on what you've got. Talkatone is another good option - you can do full GVoice, including phone calls right from your iPad.

Are you kidding me? do you actually hold the ipad up to your face and talk on it, isnt it huge? I really am technically challenged I have no idea what I am doing but dying to learn.

I don't even know what Skype is but willing to learn!

Use the headphones with mic. Or a wireless (Bluetooth) headset.
