Update to 5.0.1 erased game center account.

Last night I updated my wife's iPhone 4 to 5.0.1 and she went to play a GC game today and it wants her to create another GC account. When we try to use her old GC nick name it doesn't work, stating the name is in use.

Has anyone seen this? Anyone have a remedy?
