Default Must have Apps for new iPhone users?

I realize this is probably something that gets asked a lot or from time to time, but I figured since there is a new carrier there might be a wave of brand new users. I have a little experience with iOS from owning an iPad, but wanted to get some suggestions from experienced iPhone users. I assume other soon-to-be first time iPhone users might appreciate this as well.

RedLaser is a REAL sweet barcode scanning app!
Chipotle. Yeah, ordering Chipotle from your phone... heck yes!
Starbucks. Great for those that are regulars there
    Words w/Friends
    Scrabble
    Cut the Rope
    GasBuddy

And that's about all I can think of since I don't actually have an iPhone, but have used these apps on some of my friends' phones

Google this exact thread title and you will get so many recommendations for good apps that you will need to take some time off from work to enjoy them all.

Cut the Rope is a really fun game, Plants vs. Zombies. I like to keep time killer or time filler apps handy. You never know when you will be waiting in line at the DMV.

-Vevo is pretty cool! It will alert you when people are doing concerts and let you watch live performances from major artists!
-HuluPlus is a must for me!
    -HBOGO is awesome!
-Instagram is like a social network for pictures taken on your iPhone! It's pretty cool!

Songkick app will let you know about every concert in your city and lets you track your favorite bands. In my opinion it's the best app for the iPhone. That and Twitter.

I just use the stock maps app. Its not turn by turn voice activated so you have to read where you are going and switch between the map to see where you are.
Definitely not the best, but i don't use it that often so eh.

I'm sure some others can give you better recommendations.

It really depends on what your interests are. For instance, some good apps are:

Social networking - Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Google voice, Tango or Skype for vid conference on 3g
Productivity- Evernote, Wunderlist, Genius scan, timecard pro
Utility- Appzilla 2, Converter, Dragon Go!, The Weather Channel
    Shopping- Ebay, Amazon
Reference- Kindle app, ibookstore, bible, red cross first aid, appbzr, Pulse
Entertainment- Pandora, Stitcher, TuneIn Radio, hulu+(if suscribed), video time machine
Games- Angry birds, super stickman golf, metalstorm, tetris, bejeweled, fruit ninja, infinity blade, plants vs zombies, harbor master, tiny wingss, sonic 1&2, pocket legends, quarrel

The list goes on and on.
This should definately help get you started. Cheers and Happy hunting!

    Default Yeti Confetti rocks!

THE FATE OF THE YETI CHIEFS AND THEIR TRIBES RESTS IN YOUR HANDS!

I’ve found this little gem of a game. I’ve been getting sick of the usual Angry Birds type games and I was looking for something new. This game is it.

It’s fun, simple, yet challenging. I can’t put it down.

Look at the sticky thread in the Apps forum, where this is now located, and you will see everyone's top apps. You will also find several other threads along similar lines being even more specific.

Note to newbies - search first. Don't start a new thread if you haven't already done some digging.
