    Default iOS Maps Way Ahead?

Saw some stories where Apple is looking to hire people familiar with navigation and maps-type programs. I think Apple is looking to get into the maps department, to compete with Google Maps and possibly Bing. What do you all think? Are we going to get turn-by-turn, for free? Apple will bypass monetization of a piece of software if it keeps us in their ecosystem. Thoughts?

They may, but its going to have to have a lot more then just a shiny, glossy coating.

I'm surprised that with this Iphone 4, turn by turn wasn't default. It kills me to see all this shoddy phones that aren't even comparing to Iphones have simple turn by Turn direction capability, but for At&T users you have to pay about 30 bucks for it. I don't get it
