Google Latitude for iPhone

Ok, Google are taking their sweet ass time over releasing the iPhone app for Latitude but I dont understand why there's no way to update it presently on the iPhone because I can update it manually over the web. Surely there must be an easy app, or web proxy that you can use on your iPhone that sends your location to Latitude?

Am I dreaming? Seems reasonable to me.

No background tasking for Google means no persistent auto-updating for Latitude on the iPhone, so yeah, it would be a manually updated process.

Reportedly they're building it into the iPhone Google Mobile App.
