The ringtone maker seems a good solution for windows, but I don't want to buy it and then find that it doesn't work when 2.0 comes out or something like that.

there are a few videos on youtube that show how to make ringtones for free

I have been using audacity Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder to crop the file down to 30 seconds and itunes to change it to aac, then change the m4a extension to m4r and load it in itunes, there are videos on youtube explain how but i can't find it right now
