USB-C/Lightning or something else?

Will the iPhone 7 use a lightning connector, or will it have USB-C? Or something else entirely?

I hope they'll keep using the lightning port as we all know the fuss about the change from 30-pins to lightning wasn't something to be taken lightly.

I highly, highly doubt they'll get rid of the lightning port at this point.

Had to pull over on the interstate last weekend to get a USB-to-Lightning cable out of the trunk [in my bag] because, obviously, the iPhone doesn't use the same connector as any other non-Apple device on the market. People have chargers in their cars, but none of them have Lightning chargers because so many people use standard mUSB connectors for their phones (and the world is bigger than the Starbucks lobby).

A stark reminder of why I hate these non-standard connectors.

All cars in my family as well as my own car have lightning cables lying around in it. It's harder to find a micro USB cable in our cars than to find a lightning cable.

I guess it was just a matter of bad planning on your end to not have the cable available in hand reach when you drove away.
