I heard a rumor that when the iPhone 7 comes out, it will not have a 16GB option available? Is this true?

16GB is likely ditched based on rumors and should be killed according to opinions from the majority. It is really not sufficient. Just like iPhone disadvantages and cons wrote, we would exhaust the space of a 16GB iPhone quickly after downloading apps, songs and taking high-quality photos and videos.

Myself would probably opt for 64.

16 gb is surely too little considering the competence of iPhones today. Don't buy it and they won't do it !!

It makes no difference if they make one, you still don't have to buy the 16GB version. Buy what is right for you. I am happy with the 16GB version.

It might make a difference in price. If the entry level phone is $X, and all you have is $X. then if it's the 16 gb, that's it.

Maybe Apple will leave price of the 32GB iPhone at $XX and eliminate the 16GB entirely.

I think it will be 32, 64 or 128 with a possible 256 pro model BUT don't hold your breath on that last one, and of course I'm only guessing! But yes I think 32 will be the new minimum. With the most popularly sold unit being the 64 model.

At this point 32/64/128 makes sense. Was a 32gb user with first iphone (4s). When they offered the 64gb for the price of 32 I took that and never looked back. Would probably just do 64 no matter what. It works for me.

I think there might be a 16gb version, we'll know in a couple months. I'm satisfied with mine.

16GB is far from enough to use..they should at least be 64GB..

I'm guessing of they do eliminate 16GB, which there is a really good chance of happening, it will be replaced by 32GB. Because if 64GB becomes the base model then everyone will just get that instead, resulting in Apple losing more money than if they made 32GB as the base model.

That's what they did with the 64gb instead of 32gb.

Rumors indicate we will start at 32gb this time and go up to 256 (up from 128). So probably 32, 128, 256.

16 GB of storage is becoming increasingly hard to manage. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the iPhone 7 start at 32 GB and go up to 256 GB at the high end.

So many people say 16gb isn't enough and that's just not true for everyone. I recently bought my wife a 16gb SE. Her previous 5s was also 16gb and she never came close to the limit. For the basic user that simply calls, texts, browses, emails and takes a few photos, 16gb is still plenty. Not everyone fills their phones with apps, music and videos.

That is true but I think that the number of users who can get away with 16 GB is very quickly shrinking. If I gave my grandmother a 16 GB iPhone she'd be fine; most people wouldn't. Three years ago 16 GB would have sufficed for almost everyone.
So when we have people who come on here asking if a 16 GB iPhone is enough, we play the odds and tell them that it isn't for many users. Until you know your specific use case it's hard to make that determination. Even "basic" users often come back on here and tell us that they're glad they went with a larger capacity iPhone.

Just look at the upward trend over the years for the base model. 4 then 8 then 16. Now time for 32.
