I would like to upgrade to the iPhone 7 Plus from my LG V10 but until I can figure out a way to move my text messages over, I can't. I tried the "Move to IOS" app at least 20 times and it never got past the "preparing" screen before stopping.

Anyone know how I can move these over?

You could always use a program like SMS backup+ and take all your text messages and put them into a Gmail folder. At least that way you would not lose them, but they would not be in your iMessages

Exact same issue and Android phone as you.
On the LGV10 you have to turn on Airplane mode (make sure Wifi is one) then the app will work fine.

That was one of the first things I tried and it still never worked.

Well that sucks. I tried like 5 times before doing that and it was the only thing that worked for me. Maybe make sure both phones are on the same WiFi and not the 5g band. I have two WiFi routers in my house and I never did get the 5G band to work right.

I actually have 3 wifi routers in my house and tried all 3. 4 of I enable my cable modem. Tried on same 2.4, same 5, and even mixed. Really bummed.

Ok so this app appears promising. I returned the 7 Plus when I couldn't get it working but have an extra 6S that I've been playing with learning the iOS. Just loaded this app on the 6s and sure enough everything is there. Also loaded it on my Windows 10 laptop. So I guess the only other thing would be to get the contacts over. Do the contacts automatically come over as well using that app?

If your contacts are stored in Google then it's easy. You can actually add your google account to your iPhone and access your contacts like normal right from the contacts app. You could also export your google contacts and import them into iCloud.

Contacts I can do as you outlined with google. My biggest issue is my text messages.

Maybe take your phone to the Apple store (assuming there is one in your area) and see if they can port them or maybe your carrier.
I'm really shocked that you can't get the LG to work (that's where the issue is). Mine was acting up just like yours. I can't think of anything else I did except the Airplane mode and got off my 5g Access Point. I would start the app on the Android 1st.
