Upload sms and msm text messages

Hello,
I currently purchased a new iPhone 7 plus and I am having problems getting all my imessages uploaded to my new iPhone.
Does anybody have a simple step by step method on how to get this work?

Uploaded from where?
Did you do a back up of your previous iPhone?
Was it an iCloud backup or an iTunes backup?
Are you restoring from that backup?
Are you logged in with the same Apple ID?

Hello,
1. Right now I have the messages on my iPhone 5s.
2. Yes I did a backup on my iPhone..
3. I tried a icloud and iTunes backup but no msm or sms messages came through on the computer.
