So I signed up for the public beta and installed it to try the portrait mode. So far, I'm pretty impressed with the results. Here's some normal and depth effect samples:

It's not perfect, but it's far better than I expected.

The good news is that the bokeh effect is largely software-based so it can always be improved. Whatever algorithms Apple is using to discriminate the subject from the background can be refined.

Can you post a changelog? If the only thing different is the portrait mode I might give it a shot, but really don't want to deal with beta issues on my new phone if more has changed.

I do not see where to copy that info, but a search will tell you some of the things. It is more than just the camera I believe.

So this is nothing fancy just last night's dinner. A quick snap with no thought to composition etc to send to the wife as a teaser to what was ready for her dinner when she got home from work. Definitely impressed. My 6s+ was good but this is a step up. Colors seem accurate to real life etc. Can't wait to start really playing with the camera and raw files in Lightroom.

From a quick glance it looked like a bush was burning to the right of this hydrant haha. I had to take a second look.
