Yes contact switches. Have them on... fridge, mailbox, doors, pantry and... well everywhere. Nothing worse than when it's cold walking out to mailbox only to find out mailman hasn't came. LOL. Kids keep getting up in middle of night raiding fridge so have it record footage when fridge opens in middle of night. Has motion sensors to turn on/off lights in middle of night with motion so no one stubs a toe. Possibilities are limitless with it.

Nice, I should check it out, thanks!

It plays a big part in home automation. As limitless as your pockets are deep. Have lights on it and stuff too. It's spiffy.

I don't know which problem it solved Best; debate between wife and I of who gets up at night to turn the thermostat up or save my fat... from walking to mailbox that's empty... or the opening/ closing of garage door.

It sounds like a very versatile system!

Yea, what is the actual mailbox thing called? Run on batteries?

It's all a part of Iris. Yes just a traditional contact switch that runs off batteries. Instead of sticking it on door/window as designed I fixed it to work on mailbox lid. When magnets separate it breaks the switch and says it's "open". All the contact sensors report temperature, too

When you get lazy like me, you get creative LOL

Somewhere I have one in black, but I've never used it.

I love it. It isn't totally edge to edge like the other ones I have but the install was way easier. It is also more durable. The others scratched soo easily and I felt like I still had to baby my screen even though it had a screen protector because I hate scratches.
