Is there a way to stop my young son from receiving my new iPhone's text messages on his iPad? My Apple ID is on both devices.

Thanks!

Yes, you can disable iMessage in settings on his iPad.

If you do that you'll need to set restrictions so it can't be turned on. If he's young enough that should be fine.

If he's older, best bet is to change the Apple ID. You can share an iTunes for apps, etc but still have a unique Apple ID for iCloud.

In order to change the Apple Id, do I have to reset his iPad or is there a way to just create a new Apple id for him and apply it to the iPad without any kind of reset?
Thanks!

I believe you can just log out and then log in with a different ID under the iCloud tab in settings.

Yup, just go to Settings -> iCloud and scroll all the way down to Sign Out

It may ask if you want to keep some things on the iPad related to the current iCloud account (notes, etc.) so keep that in mind.

You all need separate iCloud, iMessage and Facetime ID's. You can share the iTunes ID so you can share the iTunes purchases. Or do Family Sharing.
