So when did the option to choose if a contact's phone number is an iPhone or just a mobile number go away? I just noticed it tonight when I added someone.

It is something you choose from a drop down menu, on the same line as the phone number. So it is not really something that 'goes away'.

When you're on the screen where you add the phone number it looks like this "home > | Phone". Tap on the > symbol for the dropdown menu and you'll see what you're looking for.

It's still there. Just tap the blue name, be it "phone" or "iPhone" or "mobile", and change it. You can create your own custom name.

Unlocked 6s (Straight Talk, AT&T network). I'm currently on beta, but I had those same options before installing.

I think I figured it out, if they have an android or non smart phone it does not have iPhone as a choice and also if they have iMessages turned off. If they have an iPhone then i can choose that option.

I've always had the option no matter what type of phone the person has or if they have iMessages turned on or off.

My fiance' has an Android, and the option is there for iPhone. I used the Custom feature and made his "Android".
