    My wife's iphone 6 won't verify the update Ota . Says error occurred. Would plugging it in to iTunes be better?

    Most likely, yes. You could also go to Settings > General > Software Update and then delete it. Restart the phone and look again for an update. I think it was just a bad download. Retrying is definitely worth it.

    If you tap on the update, scroll down to the bottom of the screen there should be a delete option if I'm not mistaken.

    If it's not there, than it's only a iOS 10 feature.

    Your best choice in that case is to update to iOS 10 via iTunes.
