Help! grey ovaled rectangular box covering text typing display

Why would I have grey box covering text display that shows what I'm typing to someone in a text message & how do I get rid of this? Thanks if you can solve/explain.

It's the audio text feature. Try backing up your cursor. Or swipe the messages app out of multitasking. Force close messages. It is activated by pressing on the mic to the right side.
