How is it that my friend on her phone she got today iphone 6 has smilies on her keyboard with out downloading anything and I don't I just got my iPhone 6 2 weeks ago

I picked up my 6 the day after launch, this is not on your keyboard.

Go into Settings > General > Keyboards > Keyboards. You should have at least two enabled, one of them being the Emoji keyboard. If it's not there, just tap Add New Keyboard and scroll down until you find it. Tap it and you should be ready to smile
