Camera freezing

My camera freezes several times a day when I try to open it in the messaging app, anyone else having this issue?

Nope, but I also don't have an iPhone 6 Plus yet either. Have you upgraded to the latest iOS version or restored your device and set it up as new? That is what I recommend, and then if the problem persists, make a genius bar appointment with the nearest Apple Store...

It only happens in the messaging app so I am figuring its a software issue!

Agreed, and that is why I recommend restoring your device with a fresh install of the latest iOS version. There are occasions where an OS gets corrupted, and besides, the iMessage app can't be installed separately.
