how do i increase the volume of my iphone 6 plus during a call

after the last firmware update on my iphone 6 plus, my phone volume has been low during calls, i have to place my phone on speaker when on a call.
i need help on how to resolve this.

The volume control on the side adjusts the ringer (or headphones) but when on a call it will adjust in-call volume.

One thing that has helped my Wife's 5c is toggling on Hearing Aid Mode in Accessibility. It made a big difference with her phone. I can't tell on my 6s Plus because it was that way by default. I haven't toggled it off. But sound is plenty loud for me. I have hearing impairment. So...
