Works for me! I don't recall ever having an issue on my iP 5. But I don't use Spotlight much at all.

Maybe try a reset or restore as new.

That's not a "bug" in the sense of being a flaw in coding, because I can type and find in Spotlight that which you could not find. Therefore it's not a software flaw with iOS 8.1.3; rather, there is an issue that is external to iOS.

Did you see the list provided and does any of it apply to you?

Edit: Just noticed you're in Mumbai, on Vodafone. Therefore the Spotlight feature is not set to work in your area.

Now the question would be why.....is it a carrier issue, a government restriction, or what other reason? Have you contacted Vodafone to ask them?

For me it is almost every time fixed by locking the phone with the power button and then unlocking it again. But I am so annoyed so I installed Google search so I can search the web that way instead of something that works 50% of the time

Like the others, I've yet to have a problem with the Spotlight search function since iOS 8.1.3., and although I noticed the bug prior to the latest update, it didn't occur enough to be a concern.

I did this no luck :((

I don't think you understand what that list is given your response...what exactly did you "do" with no luck? That list isn't a set of instructions, it's a list of countries that are fully compatible with Spotlight Suggestions. Given your screen shot, I'm guessing you use Vodafone in India...which is not on the list of supported areas...therefore, while you may get spotty function, you will not get consistent and reliable function outside of those listed locations.

In other words, it's not a bug...you're just not in an area compatible with the feature.

It didn't say it WOULD resolve the problem, it says that some people have reported it fixes it, and others didn't.

Your initial rant seems a bit silly now that this has been cleared up though...
