When can I get an unlocked version using AT&T 2-year renewal

When can I get an unlocked version using AT&T 2-year renewal? My family is debating switching to T-mobile. T-Mobile lost out but I want the flexibility of still keeping the phone if they flip flop back someday.

Here are AT&T's unlocking requirements. You will have to have fulfilled your contractual requirements. And your account must be in good standing.

After you pay off the device or pay the etf they can unlock it. Sometimes they require it to have been used at least three months on their network, and for that situation you can probably find sellers on eBay willing to push through an imei unlock request with apple (more or less legal after Congress modified the law earlier this year)
