My screen on my Apple iPhone 5s has cracked.

My screen on my Apple iPhone 5s has cracked, I have spoken to Apple and they have said that if I replace the screen myself then on the next software update error code 53 will appear and my phone will no longer work.

Please could someone advise if this will be the case?

Apple fixed error 53 so that users who experience it can still restore their phones. However, always take your phone to an authorized Apple repair shop to get it fixed by a professional and you'll not have to worry about the error. If you try to fix it yourself and screw it up, you're left with an expensive paperweight.

I would recommend you to replace the screen in an authorized Apple service center.
As they are professionals the error which you might get in your next update will be eliminated.
