Why does my black screen have red and green bars?

On my iPhone 5S, when the screen shuts off, I can see red and green bars instead of a black screen. They are very dim, but I can see them. Is this normal?

Are these slightly illuminated bars? Or are they more of a surface color thing?

Certainly not normal in that case. I was going to reference colorful shapes (and lines sometimes) when a screen protector is applied, but on a stock screen, especially if it's illuminated at all, that is not normal. Definitely get a genius bar appointment and get a replacement...sounds like a problem between the digitizer and the LCD.
