    Default iPhone 5s Storage Capacity

That's the question I'm pondering at the moment. Forget the available colors, or the case combos… when it comes to storage capacity, which option do you prefer? Is 16GB enough for you? Or do you need the 32 or 64GB option? In your opinion, which option do you NEED, and which option gives you the best bang for you buck?

I was just safe and got the 64GB option. 200 bucks more for something I will more than likely keep for a couple of years is worth it IMO.

I only need the 16GB but I would love to get one of the 32GB someday.

64GB. Helps if the phone eventually becomes an "iPod" for kid games and movies, or transferred to another family member with substantial Music and Photo storage needs.

Always 64 for me. Like stated above I'm gonna have it for at least a year in my eyes some mine as well get one that will hold what I need. I've been through the smaller sizes and I don't like having to delete stuff just to make room. But it's up to the individual person.

64GB for me...I have lots of music & I like to keep hard copies of frequently used work materials at hand in case data or wifi don't work that well (seems like I end up in BFE very often LOL)

I have gone with the 32GB variant every year since the iPhone 4...64GB is useless to me because between iCloud and 32GB, I never even come close to hitting my max...that would present an option to the 16GB to some, but I have found that with all of my installed apps, even if I were to remove my music that is stored on the phone, I didn't have enough storage to feel comfortable with 16GB because of one thing, and that is taking a metric TON of pictures and videos.

This last baseball season alone we went to about 25 Braves games (and one Giants game, lol!)...I have about 200 pictures of JUST baseball stuff...about 20 of those are panoramic pictures, and sprinkled in there is about a dozen or so HD videos of various things at the ball park. That's just baseball...that accounts for about 20% of my pictures, lol.

With that kind of usage, and the fact that I never delete my stuff after I move it to my computer (for what reason I honestly do not know), I usually sit right at 20-25GB of used storage on my phone throughout the year. Taking into account the OS usage, I have about 5-7GB worth of free storage at any given time. I'm comfortable with that.

I always get the 64 gig storage. It helps cause
I play heaps of games, pictures and music. I don't come close to filing up my device but I always buy the latest and greatest games to enjoy the Ios experience.

I'm going 16gb mainly to save 100$ plus 16gb holds more value vs reselling 32gb. Though, I'm finding harder to resist a 32gb cuz if the camera is great then likely I would take more n more pics n videos. If anything a little less hassle vs syncing often. Tough decision to make. Also it seems a 32gb gold is easier to get than a 16gb ATM.

You are correct. Craiglist n eBay prices doesn't really reflect that difference in price. If anything you may get away with selling 16gb nearly same price as a 32gb.

That is absolutely, positively NOT true, LOL! I'll give you PERSONAL experience from THIS year to debate your statement...

Sold my iPhone 5 (32GB) for $450 when the 5S was released. This price was the average I found across eBay and CL.

Sold my wife's work phone iPhone 5 (16GB) when the 5S was released on the SAME day...$375.

...this is hardly "the same". Every iPhone loses approximately 40-50% of value at the 1 year mark. The 16GB does not hold any significant value over the 32GB in private sales.

It's good to hear that. But I do see 16gb sold for 425$ to 400$ after today's research. Well it will come down to last sec decision for when I see the green light showing available 32gb.

I only need the 16. I may switch to 32 next time around but I know I would have so much unused space. 64 is not an option for me...at least not now.

I wanted at most a 32 but the 64 was the only one available. I'm happy with it not worrying about running out of storage. But having a 64 iPhone makes me get more apps.

Sure, you're going to see instances of higher and lower costs vs. the average...there were a couple of 32GB's that were selling on eBay with about a day left that were close to the $500 mark, but there were also several in that range that were not selling. The average was in the $450 range, those were selling every single time. Looking and high and low costs on year old iPhone's is a bit misleading, and can make you think that the value is higher than it actually is...for example, on my local CL, there's a few 16GB models that are asking $500 for them...for a 16GB. They'll never get it, even new in the package, but they're still asking it, and it would make someone who quickly glances at CL that THAT is the pricing people are asking (because the two were near the top).

You know why you see more of those high or low prices on the sites? Because they don't sell or there is something wrong with the device. The average priced iPhone's sell and the listings are taken down.

Yes I get all that but I do look at sale ended already listings. I don't believe too much in CL prices but it does give me a rough estimate. Prices i quote were of eBay already ended sales for att iPhone 5.

Anyways I got a 32gb now, just need to pick that baby up. Now gotta make a decision on case.

Bottom line is, there is no significant value savings getting the 16GB over the 32GB, they are almost mirror images across the board after a year on the market.
