my iphone 5c screen will not change to horizontal view when I turn the phone to the side

Not all apps support landscape mode... or - is your phone locked to portrait mode in settings? Swipe up from the bottom and see if the far right icon on the top row is highlighted or not... if it is, tap it to turn off orientation lock.
