New microphone not working

My iPhone 5 was not charging so I just replaced the dock port/headphone jack hardware and it charges beautifully. However, now the microphone does not work! It works on speaker but not regular phone mode. I thought maybe a bad part so ordered another and still no mic.
Any sugestions, thoughts or similar experience or fix?

I don't know what to tell you except to watch a teardown of that particular iPhone via the ifixit website to see if you're missing something.
