I can ring my daughter on her iphone 5 she can hear the ring but it will not connect

Welcome to iMore! FaceTime connection issues are generally related to poor internet connectivity. Make sure you're both connected to solid wifi or cellular networks. You might also have some luck going to Settings > FaceTime, toggling off on FaceTime at the top of the screen, then toggling it back on.
If that doesn't work let us know and we can go from there.
